YOUR SOCIETY… The Zirka Ukrainian Dancers have emerged as a vital element in the preservation of Ukrainian heritage in the Okanagan Valley. Since 1979 the Zirka Ukrainian Dancers have grown to over 45 members. In 1997 Zirka become a registered non-profit society who continues to perform throughout the community, and are wonderful ambassadors of the Okanagan when traveling for performances or to competitions outside of our region. Upon registration you automatically become a member of the society.

Zirka’s repertoire consists of six regional styles, each with its own style of costume and dance. Each year new regional and/or character dances are added to enhance and create excitement to our shows.

The Board of Directors and Committees strive to provide an environment for your dancer that will build confidence, self-esteem, physical fitness, grace, fun and cultural experience through dance. The dancers are a committed group of young people from all different cultural backgrounds who enjoy dance and Zirka endeavors to find the best artistic direction available for its continued success.

WE OFFER... Instruction in Ukrainian dance from pre-school to adult, beginning with basic steps and movements progressing to structured classical and character techniques at the intermediate and senior level.

2009/2010 Fees & Schedule

Malanky Deetah	$ 200.00 per year	or	8 Post-dated cheques for $ 25.00
Beginners	$ 240.00 per year	or	8 Post-dated cheques for $ 30.00
Juniors	$ 280.00 per year	or	8 Post-dated cheques for $ 35.00
Intermediates	$ 320.00 per year	or	8 Post-dated cheques for $ 40.00
Zirka I’s	$ 360.00 per year	or	8 Post-dated cheques for $ 45.00
Seniors	$ 360.00 per year	or	8 Post-dated cheques for $ 45.00
Adults	$ 280.00 per year	or	8 Post-dated cheques for $ 35.00

This year’s term is from mid September 2009 to mid May 2010. Fees are payable for the entire term. Some discounts may be available for students registering after November 1, 2009, please see treasurer for details. Any dancer registered after **September 17, 2009 will be subject to a $10.00 registration fee.

Zirka’s annual registration fee is $10.00 per dancer.

Zirka’s costume deposits are $25 for Junior, Intermediate & Adult and $50 for Zirka 1 and Seniors. This is a one time deposit (until you move from Intermediate to Zirka 1).

Zirka works hard to provide low fees and an exciting dance program for the Okanagan Valley. The board of directors is a volunteer and welcomes any help.

did you know... that yearly fees cover the cost of school rental, insurance and instructors fees? Additional fundraising provides for music, workshops, Christmas and year-end concerts, special events and additions to the costume bank. Performances and fundraising events need your help. Please help Zirka and the dancers by signing up to help with fundraising and other Zirka events. Commitment to your child’s attendance for performances is essential in keeping our group strong and known in the community.
